Another Luxury Park. The nation’s biggest urban square, Song Sang-hyeon Plaza Song Sang-hyeon Plaza, located between Samjun intersection in Jeonpo-dong and the Songong three-way interaction in Yangjeong-dong is a 700 m-long and 45~78 m-wide plaza with a total size of 34,740 ㎡, which makes it roughly twice the size of Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul (557 m-long, 34 m-wide, total 18,000 ㎡). Song Sang-hyeon Plaza consists of three squares including a History Square, a Dynamic Busan Square, and a Culture Square. Among them, the History Square focuses on themes from Busan’s rich history. The Plaza itself is in memory of Admiral Song Sang-hyeon, who fought bravely, but died in defense of Korea during a Japanese Invasion in 1592. Other historical reminders in the plaza are the ‘Ancient Map Fountain’ on which an old map of Busan is engraved, and the ‘Forest of History’ which reproduces the look and feel of the old Songong three-way interaction. The Dynamic Busan Square (total size 15,750 ㎡) consists of a 10,766 ㎡ lawn plaza, granite paved walkways, trails, and a small brook, etc. The Culture Square has a Sunken Plaza, an outdoor stage, and a café. This location will also be home to various performances throughout the year.
